Christmas is coming!!!

Christmas excitement is building! We know not everyone enjoys it as much as us maybe, but dressing the tree, unpacking the boxes of new stock, laying the table etc is always fun.

We have gorgeous decorations in traditional gold, silver and red plus some hot pink and Moroccan inspired decorations for the more adventurous.

New platters and bowls from Rachel Carley ceramics in delicate pastels, Glass and wood hurricanes for outdoor entertainment, MOR cosmetics gift bags and non-breakable glassware from Plumm to name a few great gift ideas.

Pop in-store to see everything new or email us for images and prices if you can’t make it.

Don’t forget our new store in Paihia- open 7 days over summer!

Miami Vice

With colour being the latest buzzword around and everyone suddenly wanting more of it- Zinc Textiles from the UK has delivered the ultimate collection for those not afraid to use it.

Taking its influence from the psychedelic 70′s decor of Miami nightclubs and the Art Deco furnishings that filled  them, these fabrics are not for the faint hearted. Purple, orange and red velvets mix it up with striped silks and textured plains. This company is only about 14months old- a brave move to start a new brand in a depressed market, but they seem to have stamped their mark with this collection.

It won’t appeal to everyone but it does relieve the beige on beige boredom of many a magazine photoshoot!

Romo Fabrics and Wallpapers

Romo Fabrics

Casson Collection

The latest collection from ROMO fabrics has some of our favourite colours, and that retro 1950′s feel about it that seems to be all the rage. Soft blues mixed with raspberry and chocolate (couldn’t you just eat it!), vibrant Mango,  luscious Cactus and the ever present Cerise (the jury is out on the popularity of this colourway???)

The textures are thick, the stripes and checks are reminiscent of Grandad’s plaid pyjama’s (re-worked of course!) and the prints are fun

From drapery to upholstery, cushions to blinds- this is the best collection of usable fabrics to date- we love it! Give us a call if you want to view the new fabrics or wallpapers or check it out online www.romo.com and go to ‘Casson’

Creative Northlander’s

We all know the Far North is full of talented and creative people- have you been up the main street of Kerikeri lately? Our palms, posts and trees have been adorned with vibrant fibre art for the Creative Fibre Exhibition on this weekend 3rd – 6th at the Kerikeri Primary School Hall.

Winter is here but there is definitely something warming about seeing a palm tree wrapped in a gorgeous fluffy blanket!!

Looking for something to do this long weekend? Go and take a look around the street, visit the school hall and show your support, we are! Our window is showcasing a snuggly blanket and cushions by one of the clever artist’s from the Creative Fibre Exhibition.

While you are out and about,  Art Show North 2011 is another exhibition we are supporting. Promoting Northland Art,  you will find painting, sculpture and photography at the Waitaha Conference Centre at the Copthorne Hotel in Paihia.

Spoilt for choice this weekend!  A happy and safe long weekend to everyone.

Cushion obsession

Cushions…

Yes, I must confess I have a serious problem with cushions. I like to have lots of different ones on my sofa at home- different patterns, different colours, different sizes (much to my childrens disgust as they throw them on the floor so they can find the sofa….).

I’m not much better here at the shop, every sofa and shelf is loaded up with them! But they do complete your room- whether it’s your bedroom or your living room they add in colour, texture and pattern to what may otherwise be a fairly plain space. I would rather keep my sofa and drapes neutral and change my cushions every few years (or seasonally in some of our customers cases!). That’s how I stop being bored with my home- well, cushions and moving the furniture around every 6 months! Am I alone in my passion? Does anyone else confess to buying cushions rather than shoes? To adding a colourful new vase to their home rather than a new dress to their wardrobe???
